The term back pain is regarded as aches in
the region of the spine. Low back pain can
be caused by a very wide range of medical
conditions. About half of all episodes of
back pain will resolve within a week, but
severe back pain can be chronic and
disabling. Treatment methods include rest,
analgesics, physiotherapy, osteopathy, and
exercises. Back pain is responsible for the
loss of approximately 11.5 million working
days each year in Britain alone.
